I got one.

Total elapsed wait time in line, at Target, starting at 3am : 6 hours.
Total number of friends made: 5
Total number of ciders drunk: 1
Total number of hours slept since 10 am: 5
Total number of hours before the gamers arrive: 1
Total number of hours I’ve played with my new console: 0

Worth it, though, if only for the mental pictures. ;)

I did it. Once.

  1. I didn’t even bother to try to attempt to even think about getting one at launch. Maybe I’ll look into it after the holidays are well and truly gone, and they start to be in stock again. I can always get the Zelda game for my (partially functioning) GameCube when they release its version.

I just don’t seem to be able to summon up much enthusiasm for console gaming anymore. Not sure why; maybe I just don’t have the time for it since en-dad-ification. Or maybe it’s because I have a cruddy 25′ CRT television set, and everything looks cruddy on it. Because it’s cruddy.

But keep me posted on all things Wii (or at least link to your /. articles here; I never remember to go there unless you explicitly link something here). I am interested to see if developers make good use of the control scheme, or if there’s just some initial interest, and then the third parties all drop the big N like they have in the last two generations (sigh).
