Power Up, Power Down

July 6, 2004

Except for this morning, a wonderful long weekend!

Friday and Saturday we did a whole lot of nothing. The depths of nothing to which we descended….ahh… The last few months have been so hectic, it was so nice not to have to worry about deadlines or trips or whatever. This weekend will of course return us to the usual hecticity, but it was nice to have a break. Played a bunch of City of Heroes (Jacob’s Ladder is now The Gallant Jacob’s Ladder, level 15) and watched some TV. The house is falling apart as Brian moves his stuff out, but things look pretty good just the same. It’s nice to live in dissarray for a little while.

Sunday we headed over to Heather’s folks’ place and enjoyed brats and hot dogs from Erik’s grillin’ skillz. They were numtacular. Post-dogs, we absconded to Point Cinemas and enjoyed Spider-Man 2 on the Ultrascreen. The sequel was as good or better than the original, and I enjoyed it greatly.

Regrettably, during the film Katie began to lose her voice. Monday was spent assisting the girl while she whispered at me, and then devlolved into a coughing fit. This morning was some scary stuff, and we ended up in the UW emergency room from 2 to 4:30 or so. Reassurance and a strong cough suppressant resulted in restful sleep around 5:30 or so.

I’m now at work and quite exhausted. Just a few days now until the wedding. Mentally trying to sort out what I want to say on Friday and Saturday. Writing informationally is much easier than anecdotally.

Photos: The fine folks at Fuitadnet have failed for the first time to be prompt and on the ball, much to my frustration. I’m just going to give it a go at reinstalling Gallery. Hopefully I’ll have things back up and running RSN.

Alan has a writeup of Origins available over at his site for you to peruse.
