Did you know that Chris Carter talks about how the X-files is a metaphor of the search for God, and how Mulder and Scully represent the various opinions and approaches to the question? I love the X-files :)

1) yes, Ben was a participant in this experience.

2) I’m not sure I should be proud that this story has become such a legend among friends and acquaintances.

For those like me who believe in both God and science, it works the other way. The more we know about science, the more we realize how complex things are that we thought were simple. And the more amazed we are that everything fits together.

I am generally tolerant of all forms of faith or lack of faith. But I am quite bothered by hypocrisy.

Dawkins claims he doesn’t believe in a deity. If that claim were true, I wouldn’t mind. But he does believe in deities. Memes are deities.

Genes are portions of DNA, which can be extracted, split, amplified, and read. It is a real substance.

Memes are not a substance, a force-field, or anything that can be isolated in a laboratory. Scientifically, memes do not exist.

Like I said, I have nothing aganist people who worship memes. But to put the stamp of science on a worship, and then use it to persecute similar abuses of science (such as creationism), is inexcusable.

Hi,
I’m a UK D&D player and I’ll be heading to GenCon UK in late August.
I’m just wondering what GenCon US is like. It seems over here that this year Wizards are really giving it a big push, no doubt fuelled by all the interest in 4th edition.
How big is it in America and do you play the same adventures. I’ve already signed up for my D&D slots this year, as well as fitting in a Cthulhu game.
